Tuesday, March 08, 2005 Dear audience, I have to announce my shittiest at work ever. Why? Because there hasn't been any other day in history that I can think of that sucks more than today.Best thing is, the incidents has nothing to do with poor moi! Let me recount the traumatic experience. First, my colleague received a call from another dept head asking for some signed papers from our boss (supposed to be submitted for a high level meeting happening tomorrow). So, since the boss wasn't around, dutifully, she called the boss (of our dept) asking for it. Guess what, out came his defensive speech on "why they so last minute??" and how they always like to push him around stuff which was ABSOLUTELY REDUNDANT! " Do they HAVE to HAVE it today???" he yelled. Poor colleague had to call back to the "requestor" asking the same stuff (politely, of coz). "NO" came the reply. "tomorrow will be TOO LATE!" Requestor was evidently pissed. Poor colleague called back IRRITATED BOSS and unloaded the reply. IRRITATED BOSS was MORE IRRITATED. "Then get someone to bring it down for me to sign!" trying to make things difficult. Me, being the ever supportive colleague, helped find out which 2 mysterious papers were involved, then confirmed w various parties to ensure those were the final final final copies, then arrange for all parties to co-ordinate timing to sign on the paper (many parties were required to sign on it you see). Then, we sent along the nice temp girl to deliver the papers to IRRITATED BOSS. Goodness me, the entire morning were spent just to get this sorted out. By mid afternoon, the ordeal is over. . . . . . . . . . . BUT, best is yet to come..... IRRITATED BOSS got back during late afternoon. There was a commotion. Someone had questioned the figures quoted in one of the paper. SHOOT! He realised he did not check the paper! "TODAY WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAD READ THIS PAPER!" he lied, while trying to point the blame to others (poor colleague #2 who did the paper for him). I knew that the paper was given to him late last week...so her had time to read it. Me and poor colleague #1 was summoned quickly to make calls to tabulate the figures. Unbelieveable, we stood blankly while he rambled on and on and on...pointing his fingers at everybody else (except himself) and arguing a another poor colleague #3. I was terrified that a fight will break out....then it would be the first time that I see a fight in LIVE! Anyway, we manage to give him some explanation for the distortion in figures (which he was still not v happy with).... I made myself scarce when i was told my attention wasn't required anymore by colleague #2. Anyway, for the record, there were more complications along the way which is really too complex to explain but it just irks me to think that the time spent for all of us should have been better used. So, here goes my traumatic day....totally none of my business, but in every way enormously, absolutely, unimaginably shitty.
